The CDS Learning Garden was originally created by our Parents’ Association as a way for students to connect to nature and learn the process of growing their own food. Over time, the Learning Garden has been incorporated into the curriculum and the daily life of our students, expanding beyond edible plants to include many types of flowers and plants. Each class has ownership of a garden bed and weaves learning objectives into our science, writing, and even service learning projects.
Our garden also provides a calming effect on campus. It is a place where our students can go to connect with nature and improve their social skills through teamwork and compassion.
